Whs file access denied

If this also fails please post in more detail what's happening. Probably not recommended, but I used a hex editor to manually erase the sector and ran chkdsk to complete the removal. Yes, I'm certain I executed the command correctly and in the proper location.

The filenames were nothing special ming-banner. I've already removed the files now but I'll run that utility you have recommended anyway just to see if it picks anything else up. I'm still running that tool though but may have to interupt it when I add in another drive tomorrow. I have the same issue, I have about 25 files in 5 directories. Neither solution here helped, the tool could not do anything - since it could not access the files Neither can I take ownership of the files to change the ACLs Mittwoch, 9.

Juli If the WHS administrator account can access the files, but other accounts can't, it has to be a permissions issue. Things that you can try and I don't promise that any of them will work : Change the password on a user on a client PC. When the connector complains, sync the password to WHS. Try to access a file in a share that the user should have access to.

Remove and re-add a user's access to a share on WHS. Remove and re-add a user on WHS. Right click Public, and select Properties. Click on the Sharing tab. Click on the Permissions button.

You should see the individual users on your WHS that have some level of access to the network share. Click Cancel, then click on the Security tab. If your permissions have become messed up at this level, fixing it is tedious, and mistakes may further screw up your file access.

Then you will have to set permissions in Explorer on a folder by folder basis, possibly for both. Click on your name in "Group or user names" to check the permission that you have. If you want to change the permissions on a file or a folder, you should log on the PC as an administrator. Next, click on "Edit" in "Security" tab. And then, choose your name and enable the check boxes of the permissions that you need. File encryption has the ability to protect users' files and folders.

Moreover, if a file is encrypted, you need the certificate that used to encrypt it to open the encrypted file or folder. Otherwise, you may get the "Access Denied" error. To check encrypted file or folder, follow these steps.

After that, you can check if "Encrypt Content to Secure Data" option is enabled. If it is checked, you will need the certificate to open or the file or folder.

If "Encrypt Content to Secure Data" option is unchecked, the file or folder is not encrypted. It takes just a few simple steps to recover the corrupted file or folder. Next, you can launch the software to check if it's successfully running on your PC.

Hint: You may want to install data recovery on a partition that doesn't contain the data you want to recover. Otherwise, the installation could overwrite the data. If the software is successfully running, you are able to select the files types you need on the main interface. When the folders appear I can click to drop down into the subfolders and the files within.

Both laptops appear to have the same version of Windows 7, the same network access via my wireless lan in the home , and are both the same make of laptop.

I've checked all the permissions within the WHS console for the folders and the users. All seems to be set up for access. I've even painfully done a remote desktop login to the server and manually set the folders to share. The remote access setting on each laptop is the same. What am I doing that makes one laptop get the Windows Explorer access when the other won't go beyond the first level? Any ideas? Thanks Len. Posted: Thu Feb 03, am.

Sounds like you have a permissions issue. The difference between one computer and the other can simply be just the User Name or the user name WHS thinks the computer is using with the computer your denied access with.

The easiest way to see this is to reboot the computer that your server is dening the access too. If you see that message try to notice the name of the user that is displayed because its that name which WHS is using for the logged on User on your computer and not the actual name you logged on with.
